VISIT the nursery
What
are Ofsted's responsibilities?
In September 2001, Ofsted became responsible for the
registration and inspection of day care and child minding.
In
its role as the single regulatory body, Ofsted checks that day care providers
and childminders throughout England meet the national standards.
This means that parents can
be confident in the standard of childcare wherever they live.
What happens during an Ofsted inspection of a day
care provider?
An Ofsted Childcare Inspector
(CCI) will visit the premises of a Day Care provider
or the home of a childminder.
The inspector checks the care provider against the
14 National Standards for day care and childminding.
Some day care providers receive an educational grant in order to provide education
for children aged 3 and 4. In these provisions an
extra check is carried
out every 2 - 4 years to check the quality of education
provided, this is known as a 'combined inspection'.
After the inspection Ofsted issues Childminders and Day Care providers with an
inspection report.
What OFSTED said about Tik-Tok
“Tik-Tok Nursery is
a good setting providing a varied range of activities
in
a friendly
environment
where
all children are valued. Children are confident and
make good progress overall towards the early learning
goals.
Staff have consistent expectations for good
behaviour and support
children’s personal and social skills very well through close interaction.
The
children show an increasingly positive and enthusiastic attitude to their activities.
They spend time at both directed and chosen tasks and are keen to succeed. They
concentrate well and their behaviour is good overall. They develop good skills
in communication, make satisfactory progress in mathematics and have well-planned
opportunities
to investigate and explore.
